Fellow Notion Nerds + ADHDers… behold my 2023 Notion Goal Planner template has landed! Whether you have ADHD or not, this Notion system for 2023 goal planning (and more importantly) goal completion, is going to knock your nerdy socks off.
Before we jump right into the planning system, keep in mind, this post and video is centered around showing you the system, not my actual goals, because I haven’t actually figured them out for 2023, yet. So, if you have any questions, drop ’em below.
Let’s Tour the Notion Planner Template, Shall We?
Let’s start with the vision casting & goal setting preparation, which I’m particularly proud of, as I’ve never seen this done in Notion before. It starts with developing a vision board and a life vision for yourself.
This is just some of mine, but the real unique piece here is I bring in a couple of different self assessments.
Track your Your Character Strengths + Needs in Notion
So the first assessment dives into character strengths, which you will go offsite to actually do. This is the VIA character strengths assessment, based on positive psychology research, designed out of the university of Pennsylvania.
Once you determine what your personal character strengths are, you’ll have a great idea of how you can best show up for your goals. Then, you’ll be prompted to complete a Needs Assessment that you can either do on notion or in a word doc.
And then, you’ll finish off with a core values assessment, that will help you get clear on what’s most important to you in this season of life.
Once you have all that data, you’ll record it in the Notion planner template, and it will beautifully appear in a goal setting dashboard, where you’ll have all your results on one page.
You’ll then be guided through some reflections to really help you nail down the goals for 2023 that are right for you – not just what sounds interesting in the moment.
The Goal Setting Process in Notion
I like to start with some bigger annual goals, and take some time to really consider why they are important and relevant to me. The reason we go deep on each of these goals is that a really helps to create intrinsic motivation as to why we want to achieve them. That’s really going to help you over the long term when the sparkle has worn off your dreams and they just seem like… work. And we all have those moments, right?
From there, we chunk annual goals down into smaller, monthly goals. From there, we chunk those monthly goals down into daily to dos.
The Notion Weekly Planner – the secret sauce for success
Okay, I have been doing this weekly planning system for a year now, and it’s been a total game changer for me. My weeks and days now have structure and purpose. My tasks are aligned to my goals and my goals are aligned to who I am, and what I want out of life.
Finding a way to string these elements together may sound simple or natural, but for most ADHDers, it’s not. Our planning and prioritization skills are rarely our strengths, so to rely on them to just know what to do throughout the day is a recipe for disaster. I’ve learned the hard way that planning is key to getting anywhere in life. I just wish I had learned it sooner.
The way this Notion template is set up, it creates a simple, repeatable system for planning your week, checking in on progress, and then reflecting on it before embarking on the next week.
So that’s my Notion planner template and system for 2023. I hope you enjoyed this fun walkthrough and if you’re interested in purchasing the template, you can grab it right here.
